about

The goal of this compilation is to capture the local ska-punk scene active in the DMV, from the late 90s through the early 00s, that had a huge influence on me and many others. While it's impossible to feature every band, I hope this collection evokes fond memories. My love for independent music and communities was born out of what these bands and people created. I have a lot of respect and love for all of you.

Special thanks to/this wouldn't be coherent without: Mike Toohey, Alex Fine, Etay Pisano, Paul Leavitt, James McDonald, John Cain, Pearce Arnold, Andy Schneider, Brian Paska, Bobby Bobson, Jonathan Beasley, Tim and Sean Conneally, Wilson Rickerson, Ben Kellogg, Matt Lautar, Brandon Korch, Robbie Levin, Lucas Walther, Justin Blemly, Eric Jacobsen, Will Sparks, Michelle Chin, Dan Hess, Owen Baker, Jonathan Basile, David Combs, Brian Goodman, Phantasmagoria, the Corner Kick, VFW Post 160, Rude in DC Productions, dcska.com, SideOneDummy Records, Fueled by Ramen, Asian Man Records, and all my bandmates ever.

Dedicated to the loving memory of Dan Hess, Maddy Bekele, Doc Night, and Matthew Lautar. Your songs are in our hearts.
